The Te Nikau Retreat is nestled in the native West Coast Nikau-forest on the foot of the Paparoa mountain range. Surrounded by nature it’s the perfect location to discover Punakaiki, the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes and the stunning walks in the Paparoa National Park.
We have a wide range of accommodation options - suitable for families, couples, individual travelers and backpackers.
A private track through lush, green bush leads to the Truman track and the breathtaking coastline, the West coast is famous for.
Stay a few days and relax, enjoy and take part in the many activities and attractions this fantastic part of New Zealand is renowned for.
We’re also looking very much forward to welcoming hikers and bikers that come from or going to the Paparoa Great Walk.

Self-contained cottages
Our self-contained cottages are set in lush native rain forest and offer our guests privacy, peace and quiet - a space to relax, restore and explore.
Choose from ocean-views or rain forest seclution, small cabins or bigger family-units.
Lodges and private rooms
The Te Nikau Retreat has four big Lodges - nestled in the native West Coast bush. You can book private rooms, beds or a whole Lodge - we have many different options, perfect for families, couples, solo-travelers or groups.
Every Lodge comes with a fully equipped kitchen, several bathrooms and their own unique style and feautures.
Backpacker Lodges
Two of our Lodges are great for Backpackers or solo-travelers.
We have a 7-bed Dorm in the Weka Lodge and a 6-bed Dorm and two Double-rooms in the Rata Lodge.
Both Lodges have single-beds (no bunks), a big kitchen, bathrooms and give our guests a true West Coast experience.
